HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Unlike Wednesday night’s loss against UC Irvine, the Rainbow Warrior basketball team was able to protect its lead against UC Davis Saturday night and run away late with an 80-60 victory at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawaii (12-7, 3-2 BWC) was led by Sheriff Drammeh’s 18-point outburst, 15 of which came in the first half of play. With Zigmars Raimo in foul trouble early in the first period of play, the ‘Bows had to rely on Dawson Carper to come off the bench and perform. And perform he did.
Carper tallied 13 points in relief, a career-high, while Raimo stormed back in the second half to pick up 14 points and seven boards in just 17 minutes of action.
But perhaps the most impressive performance from a Warrior on the night came from sophomore guard Drew Buggs, who orchestrated Hawaii's offense for the majority of the night, notching a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 12 assists.
The Warriors will be back in action at home when it hosts Long Beach State on Thursday, January 31. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. HT at the Stan Sheriff Center.
