HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball team couldn’t keep up with UC Riverside tonight on the road, losing 75-71.
Hawaii (11-6, 2-1 BWC) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end due to some hot shooting from the Highlanders.
UC Riverside drilled 13-of-25 three-point attempts on the night. Dragan Elkaz led all scorers with 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Warriors, in their own right, played well offensively but didn’t do enough to neutralize UC Riverside’s three-point shooting. As a team, the ‘Bows shot 56 percent from the field. Jack Purchase scored a season-high 24 points, shooting 10-of-15. He also moved into the No. 3 spot all-time in program history for three-pointers made.
Sheriff Drammeh added 17 points while Drew Buggs finished with nine points, nine assists and six rebounds
The Warriors head back to Honolulu for four-straight home games, beginning with a showdown against UC Irvine on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Tipoff is set 7:00 p.m. HT at the Stan Sheriff Center .
