HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaiian Humane Society is looking for a forever home for a very special pup.
Collette, a 3-year-old French bulldog, has so much love to give — but she needs a lot in return, too.
She was born without the use of her back legs and can’t walk without a special wheelchair.
She also needs help doing just about everything a dog has to do.
To help Collette find a home, the Hawaiian Humane Society will hold a special adoption event at its Moiliili campus on Saturday morning, starting at 8 a.m.
Those interested in taking Collette home will get a special briefing on her medical needs — followed by a meet-and-greet with the cutie herself.
“It’s so amazing and you just want to take her home," said Harold Han, of the Hawaiian Humane Society, "But you got to realize that she has some specific needs going forward, so it might not be the right pet for everyone.”
Collette was surrendered to the Hawaiian Humane Society after her owner could no longer care for her.
Dr. Kasey Carter, chief veterinarian at the Hawaiian Humane Society, said there’s no doubt that Collette will need lots of care over her lifetime. She’ll also need some training and a lot of patience.
“She’s a super-sweet dog, always happy to see you when you see her,” Carter said.
