HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball team continued their winning ways Thursday night on the road in an 84-79 victory over CSUN.
Hawaii (11-5, 2-0 BWC) won its first road Big West Conference matchup of the season behind Eddie Stansberry’s 25-point performance. Zigmars Raimo also made an impact for the Warriors, tallying a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The game was won on the free throw line for the Warriors despite shooting just 21-of-31 as a team.
Jack Purchase and Samuta Avea hit six-straight free throws in the final 17 seconds to put the game away for the ‘Bows, who are now 2-0 to start conference play for the first time in three years.
Purchase finished with 13 points while Avea chipped in 11 points off the bench.
The Warriors will next head to UC Riverside for another Big West matchup on Saturday, Jan. 19. Tipoff is 5:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. HT.
