HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui resident Eric Dugas made the cut after the second round of the 2019 Sony Open.
Dugas finished 2-under after the opening two rounds after finishing +1 on Friday.
“The situation I knew I was hanging on the cut line so (the) birdie went a long way," Dugas said. "Out here, you can hit good shots and get penalized too.”
The tricky 18-hole course at Waialae Country Club challenged Dugas throughout the day, but he did enough when the pressure was on to stay above the 2-under cut line.
“I just tried to stay positive,” he said.
While Dugas is pleased to have advanced into Saturday’s round, he knows that there is still a lot of work to do to climb up the leaderboards to keep his weekend going on the course. And his plan to do that is quite simple.
“Short game, short game, shot game out here,” he said.
Dugas is set to tee off at 12:30 p.m. H.T. at No. 10. He is paired with Stephan Jaeger and Rikuya Hoshino.
