HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 30-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday after falling at the popular Koko Crater Trail.

Paramedics said the man was injured about 2:20 p.m., and was treated and taken to a hospital.

It wasn’t immediately clear how he fell.

The trail is composed of old railway ties, and is deteriorated in places.

Volunteers have sought to generate public support to better care for the trail, and have also expressed concerns about the number of people who use it daily.
