BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The woman killed in a crash on Saddle Road last week has been identified by police.

Hawaii County officials say 23-year-old Keslyn E. Tulensru of Hilo sustained deadly injuries in the two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning. Several others were injured.

A van crashed into a fuel tanker on the highway between mile markers 21 and 22, just before 4:45 a.m.

Police said Tulensru died at the scene. Three others were transported to the Hilo Medical Center.

A total of nine passengers were in the van at the time of the collision.

The highway was closed for about six hours as police investigated.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

A Negligent Homicide case has been initiated, and police ask anyone who witnessed this crash to call Officer Erhard Autrata at (808) 961-2339.

This was the 28th traffic fatality this year compared with 30 at this time last year for Hawaii Island.
