HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police lieutenant accused of lying on his tax returns pleaded not guilty Monday during his first court appearance.

Veteran detective Eric Yiu is accused of making false statements on five years' worth of state tax returns until 2017.

Yiu has been relieved of his police authorities during the investigation.

He remains free on $11,000 bail.
